Please welcome Scott Hinojos, who will become the new leader of the Telecommunications forum this Friday, January 12th, 2007. Scott is a specialist in fiber optics, and much like myself, he's here to share his experiences in telecom and to learn from the membership. Scott will post his own introductory message shortly.

I will remain here, both to help Scott with the transition, and also to continue to enjoy the knowledge exchange that this forum has become, but from now on simply as a member.

It's been a pleasure for me to birth this forum and to see it grow and mature to the point where we now have over 1,000 members, although admitedly not all are active. Thanks to everyone for your support over the past few years. However, as I've previously stated, it's time to move on and turn the reigns over to someone new.

Good luck to you Scott!

Best of luck with your new endeavors, Ira!

Welcome aboard, Scott. Congratulations on your fiber optic certification, but don't down play the importance of technical support. It really is the front line for business.

Thanks, Tom and Kenneth! And special thanks for Ira for building such a great network!

It is said that timing is everything, so maybe my taking over this group is fortuitous. Let me explain...

See, I've been on Ryze as a free member for several years now, and almost never touched my account. Only recently have I turned my attention back to this site, changing my page once again (first was graphic design, then theatre) to telecommunications. And in the last week or so, I decided to look up telecom groups here, and lo and behold, a group which is not only telecom-based, but that has an owner who wishes to vacate. Hmm, it could be door opening...

Ira is introducing me as the new "leader", but I take the reins humbly, and with the idea that I am more a regular member with extra responsibilities -- a custodian, perhaps. This is quite a group, and Ira leaves big shoes to fill.

I only ask that you are patient with me as I get the hang of running this network. Ira has pledged his assistance, so that shouldn't take long.

P.S. I won't down the importance of technical support, Kenneth, but I'm well past wanting to move on. :)

Welcome Scott,
I'm sure you've noticed there are some interesting personalities here. Mostly a bunch of old "telco dogs" and a few "bell heads" We have alot of fun here poking at each other.

Ira, did a great job orchestrating this group and keeping out the soliciters, I'm sure you will too!

Ira, I'll see you on the the trade show circuit!!

Regards,
John T

Welcome Scott,

It will be nice to see you moderate the network.

Ira, sorry, me keeping so busy, couldn't even get back to you. It was so nice of you to first offer me the responsibility, but then, the present situation makes me believe, that I would not have done justice to the responsibility.

Anyway, we all are here, to take this forum, from mere discussion place, to next generation technological innovations' breeding ground.

Scott, best wishes man.

Regards,
Ray

Thanks so much, all!

I must admit that I've been keeping a fairly low profile so lately, but for good reason - I'm looking for a new gig in fiber optics. Anyone know of any openings? *wink*
